The new rotors go right in place, and are held in place by the lug nuts instead of rivets. Before installing the calipers a dial indicator is used to check rotor run-out. If not within a few thousandths of an inch, shims are used to correct run-out. Run-out discrepancies are generally caused by the axle or hub, not the rotor. Ours checked within the acceptable tolerances so no shims were needed. View Related Article
