When it comes to delivering huge power and torque increases at an affordable price, it's hard to beat a well-designed nitrous-oxide system. As we showed you last month, Nitrous Outlet of Waco, Texas, offers C5 and C6 nitrous kits using the company's innovative EFI plate technology. Available in both 78mm and 90mm throttle-body versions, the plate solidly mounts between the TB and intake manifold and provides a cleaner appearance than traditional "nozzle based" systems. Additional advantages of the plate configuration include superior nitrous and fuel distribution, resulting in more-consistent performance.
Before heading back to Nitrous Outlet to complete the install, let's recap our progress. After introducing the Nitrous Outlet LS1/LS2 90mm EFI Plate System (PN NO-10108-10) destined for installation on Clint Allen's automatic-equipped '07, we detailed the procedure of safely mounting a nitrous bottle (in this case, two of them) in the car and installing the rest of the kit. Both the wiring for the nitrous system and the main nitrous-feed line were run through the firewall, leaving us just short of connecting the line to the engine.
Now, follow along as Nitro Dave Vasser and the technicians at Nitrous Outlet complete the install. Once that's done, we'll take a drive over to Real Performance Motorsports (RPM) in Lewisville, where the car will be dyno-tested and -tuned.
 The Nitrous Outlet LS1/LS2...  The Nitrous Outlet LS1/LS2 90mm EFI Plate System is designed for LS-series engines utilizing a 90mm throttle body. The kit consists of everything needed for the installation, including the EFI plate along with the nitrous and fuel solenoids. Also included are the nitrous and fuel hoses, a 10-pound nitrous bottle, stainless steel quick-release bottle brackets, and electrical components such as the arming switch and throttle-activated micro switch. |  Nitrous Outlet sells a wrap-around...  Nitrous Outlet sells a wrap-around automated bottle-heater kit (PN NO-00-6401-4) that features a powerful 300-watt heater. It comes complete with a black heater element, an adjustable pressure switch, a relay and harness, wire, and necessary hardware. Although the heater can be purchased on a stand-alone basis, the adjustable pressure switch should be considered mandatory. In addition to keeping bottle temps within a pre-set range (which maximizes the effectiveness of the system), it prevents accidental overheating. |  A fuel-pressure switch is...  A fuel-pressure switch is another must-have item. This Nitrous Outlet unit (PN NO-OO-6104-4) is set to disable the nitrous system if the sensor detects that pressure has dipped to 50 psi. Without it, the driver would have to use a fuel-pressure gauge and closely monitor it whenever the nitrous was employed. |
 A nitrous-pressure gauge such...  A nitrous-pressure gauge such as this one from Nitrous Outlet (PN NO-OO-6301-4) should be installed on each bottle. Used in conjunction with the heater, this gauge will allow the user to keep the bottle(s) in the pressure range required for optimum performance. |  After attaching the 7-inch...  After attaching the 7-inch line to the nitrous and securing the filter to the main -4 AN nitrous line, the filter is tightened with a 9/16-inch wrench on the line side and attached to a Nitrous Outlet distribution block. The block has been outfitted with two 8-inch -4 AN lines that are secured to each of the two bottle nipples. |  After reviewing the wires...  After reviewing the wires that were pulled through the firewall, it was determined that in order to find a suitable location to mount the switch panel, a good portion of the interior would have to be temporarily removed. Here, the boot around the emergency brake is detached, giving our techs time to ponder a method for removing the front trim panel from the console. |
