Here comes the really tricky part. Gas shocks are fully extended when they're not on a car. Several hundred pounds of gas pressure keep them that way. The old oil shocks simply move to whatever position you want-and they stay there. These KYBs stay at full length until they're installed in the car, and the car is on the ground. If you're familiar with KYB shocks, you'll notice that I got a little carried away with the flat black paint. It's one thing to have gas shocks on your old Corvette.
