Corvette Factory Tour - Behind The Scenes In Bowling Green
Corvette sub-components, like this dashboard, are completed before moving on to the assembly line.
This Z06's frame has received many sub-assemblies on its way down the production line.
The engine, transmission, suspension, and brake components are added in the drivelineassembly area, after which the finished unit is united with its completed body. This Z06 driveline is nearing completion.
All body panels are primed before entering the robotic paint booth.
Highly articulated robots apply waterbased LeMans Blue paint to this coupe's body panels. Clearcoat is applied to the panels during the last step of the painting process.
High-intensity lights enable plant staff members to spot small paint defects in the finished panels.
This fender has been pulled off the line to have a defect repaired.
The finished panels are sent to the assembly area to be installed on the car.
This convertible is having its trim and interior pieces installed. This work will be completed before this car receives its engine and driveline.
The body-to-chassis marriage is always fun to watch. This C6 coupe is in the final stages of this process.
Quality is of the utmost importance at the Corvette Assembly Plant. This completed Z06 is going through a paint-inspection booth for a second time.
After the cars are "first started," they pass through an alignment-and-testing station. This yellow Z06 is being put through its paces-mechanically and electrically-before moving on to the shipping area.
