In our Oct. ’11 issue, we introduced you to the North American Road Racing Association (NARRA) and the two new grassroots-style racing series it governs: the US GT Championship (USGTC) and the Whelen US TimeTrial Championship (USTTC).
We then took you to the front lines for the series’ first four rounds, where Corvettes fought a pitched battle against Vipers at Inde Motorsports in Willcox, Arizona, and at Road Atlanta.
This month, we pick up where Part 1 left off; bringing you the next six rounds of 2012 NARRA points competition. These events played out at Road America, New Jersey Motorsports Park, and Virginia International Raceway from May through July.
“It seems with every event, the contingent of Corvettes continues to grow and grow, which is great to see,” says NARRA General Manager Rob Morrison. “The rivalry between Vette and Viper is in full swing in both our series.
“Just look at the stats,” he continues. “Corvettes took took time-trial podiums in all six previous rounds. The marque is fighting for six of our eight national time-trial and GT racing championships, and is looking set to win at least two of those class championships—with five more rounds still to come.”
In the accompanying photographs, we showcase the Corvettes and owners who competed in these six rounds. And in a future issue, we’ll bring you all the action from the series’ final four qualifying rounds at Monticello (NY) Motor Club and Texas World Speedway, as well as the double-points championship weekend at Watkins Glen.
